Wet N Wild Nutty: A Dupe of MAC's Satin Taupe?

So we all love our Wet N Wild shadows, don't we? And I have read many comparisons and even dupe mentions to MAC shadows. Today, I will review whether Nutty, a Color Icon shadow from Wet N Wild is really a dupe for MAC's Satin Taupe. Nutty is available for about $3 CAD at Walmart (where I got mine), it's a single shadow, really simple packaging. It is a really pretty colour and I admit I picked it up because I heard it was a dupe, but even if it wasn't this is still a pretty colour. It's like a frosty taupey brown. Whereas, Satin Taupe is described as "taupe with silver shimmer (frost finish)".

I only picked up Nutty recently, but I've have MAC's Satin Taupe in my Fascinating Ruby Smoky Eye palette for a few years (this came out in 2009). I don't own the MAC shadow in the pan, only as a palette but I think it's the exact same. Next to each other you can tell the MAC looks more purple/taupey, while Nutty looks more of a toned down brown.

Swatched on my fingers here, Nutty is on the left, you see a major difference, the sheen in Satin Taupe (on right) is almost the same colour as Nutty, but Satin Taupe definitely has more depth and dimension, it can look like many different colours in person. Both are incredibly pigmented (that's two swipes of each) and buttery soft. I've read people have issues with the pigmentation of Nutty, but that is not the case with mine at all.

And swatched on my arm here, Wet N Wild (on left) is definitely lighter, more of a cool brown, where Satin Taupe (on right) is a deeper, richer brown with definite taupe/purple undertones. I think both colours are pretty, but side by side, you can definitely see the difference. For the money though, Satin Taupe will set you back $13-17.50CAD, whereas Nutty is a 1/5 of that price. I like wearing both shadows and think they are both pretty.

What do you think?
